If you've read the news recently, you know that the title insurance industry nationwide has its share of problems. The recently released GAO Report on our industry noted that the consumer's lack of knowledge about title insurance has permitted shady practices to flourish in some states. While noting that our industry as a whole is both competitive and motivated to provide a fair price and excellent service, we all know that there are a few bad actors that have sullied our industry in the eyes of the public. To begin to combat this negative image, the American Land Title Association is spearheading an effort to educate the public on the value of title insurance and to raise the level of professionalism throughout our industry.
