Knight
Barry Title Group President and CEO Craig Haskins has officially begun his term
as President of the American Land Title Association (ALTA). With three decades
of title industry experience, Craig brings a track record of leadership,
advocacy, and dedication to innovating title and closing services.
Craig joined Knight Barry in 1996 after
graduating from the University of Florida, when Jeff Green, Knight Barry's
current Chairman and Owner, recruited him to Wisconsin. Since then, he has
played an important role in the company's growth and continued development.
Today, he leads Knight Barry Title Group's more than 80 offices across
Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Florida.
Outside of Knight Barry, Craig has been
actively involved in the title industry at the state and national levels. He
previously served as President of the Wisconsin Land Title Association (WLTA)
and worked on state legislative and regulatory efforts affecting the title
industry. He also served on Wisconsin's Electronic Recording Council, helping
establish the framework for electronically recording real estate documents and
improve recording practices statewide.

As ALTA President, Craig is focused on
increasing awareness of the work title professionals do, encouraging innovation
while maintaining strong consumer protections, and creating more opportunities
for emerging industry leaders.
One of his priorities is helping
consumers better understand the value of title insurance. Much of the work that
protects property rights happens behind the scenes, from researching property
records and identifying potential ownership issues to resolving title defects
before closing. Craig believes the industry can do more to communicate the
importance of this work and the protections title insurance provides long after
a transaction is complete.
He also sees opportunities for technology
to improve efficiency and simplify the closing process without reducing the
coverage consumers rely on. At the same time, he's encouraging greater
involvement from the next generation of title professionals, emphasizing that
new ideas and leadership potential shouldn't be limited by years of industry
experience.
In a recent HousingWire interview, he
shared, "I want people who are interested and curious. If they've got
ideas, even if they've made an impact after only two years, I want them on
stage. I want them in roles where we can make a difference. You don't have to
wait 20 years to matter anymore."
We're proud to see Craig take on this new
role and bring his experience and perspective to the national stage. We look
forward to seeing what he accomplishes during his year as ALTA President and
the opportunities ahead for the title industry.
Congratulations, Craig!
