Minnesota Managers Announced
We are proud to announce two promotions to our Minnesota operations, which were acquired from Chuck and David Bang in January. Jodi Bach has been named the Minnesota Market Manager and will be responsible for overseeing our efforts to recruit staff, identify expansion opportunities, market our products and services, develop strategies to build and maintain our customer base as well as other duties. Luan Colvin is the Title Production Manager and will oversee title production systems and be the first point of contact between our title production staff and our executive team.
We are extremely proud of Jodi and Luan and we know great things will continue to happen for us in Minnesota including a few expansions and growth opportunities in other parts of the state, hopefully starting with a new venture into Rochester sometime in 2018.
Find us on the River in Lake City, Minnesota
We are pleased to announce the opening of our newest office in Lake City, Minnesota. This bustling town in Wabasha County is on the banks of the Mississippi River and is one of the cutest towns on either side of the river. I’m sure the Wisconsin offices of Knight Barry Title along the river could take exception to that statement, but heck… have you seen Lake City in the summer? You can find our new office on the corner of Center Street and Lakeshore Drive in the heart of the downtown.
Minnesota Plat Drawings Explained
Knight Barry Title Group acquired five offices in Minnesota in early January 2018, bringing with us our experience and knowledge in issuing title insurance and conducting real estate closings dating back to 1854. One of our experiences is the practice of providing residential underwriting improvements that will save consumers money, speed up transactions and provide better title insurance coverage for lenders. Eliminating the requirement of obtaining a plat drawing in certain parts of Minnesota will do just that, save money, speed up transactions and yes provide the lender better title insurance coverage. Open House (party) in Red Wing
On July 16th the Red Wing office will host an open house to celebrate the summer.  This will allow our customers to view our facilities and meet and greet the members of the Knight Barry Title staff who work behind the scenes and aren’t the faces of the company in the closing rooms. We’re planning the details now and you can expect a lunch box served from 11am -1pm and for those who can make it back in the evening, we are planning an amazing food truck to whip up some great food and drinks for the attendees. So please save the date and keep an eye out for an invitation with more details in mid-June.

1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges are red hot!
Avoiding Taxes - no one has ever wanted to do that, right? In the event that you wish to defer capital gains tax in the sale of investment real estate, a 1031 Starker Exchange can allow you to do just that. Well at least for the short term. Knight Barry Exchange LLC can act as a qualified 1031 exchange intermediary on your behalf and make the reinvestment of your proceeds into another asset seamless.
Of course there are many rules and regulations that need to be followed in this process of deferring the capital gains tax. Our role as your intermediary is to make sure the funds are effortlessly transitioned from your relinquished property to your replacement property. In the past year our facilitation of 1031 exchange transactions has quadrupled in number. The people handling this explosion in growth to our 1031 exchanges are administrators Samantha Stahl and Katherine Sanford.
Sam and Kat will coordinate with the Seller’s counsel and/or tax professional, prepare the exchange agreement, monitor deadlines, manage the exchange funds and coordinate the second leg of the exchange. Know that this service is available even when Knight Barry Title is not facilitating the closing of the asset and we can coordinate closings for property located all over the country.
